Savings rate
The share of your net income that you save and invest each month.
It is the strongest lever in a FIRE plan because it works twice. Saving more grows your savings faster, and living on less lowers the amount you need. From zero savings, a 50 % rate means roughly 15 to 20 years of work, depending on returns.

Savings rate: the number that sets how soon you are free
Your savings rate, not your salary, decides how many years you need. A table from 10% to 80% shows 66 years at the low end and 6 at the high end.
